Lie #23

The Misleading Information:

1. Articles publicizing Pat Escalante supposedly being honored at the Sundance Film Festival Creative Coalition included The Daily Breeze, The Beach Reporter News, Mira Costa La Vista newspaper and the HBCSD website.

2. The LaVista Newspaper states:

“Escalante won her award for her contribution toward

public education by hiring enough teachers in order to provide

proper education for children of Hermosa Beach.”

NOTE: Don’t all superintendents have to hire enough teachers in order to provide proper education for students? Is that something that needs to be honored?

A. The CDE has maximum class sizes and penalties for going over

the maximum that ALL school districts are supposed to follow.

Class size decisions are not made solely by superintendents.

B. Pat Escalante’s advised school board members to severely and

unnecessarily overcrowd View School from 2015 to 2020.

Please see:

Lie #29: Misinformation and misleading information provided

by Superintendent Pat Escalante to justify moving 3rd grade

from Valley School to View School in September 2015. Severely

and negatively impacting View School and panicking staff and

parents less than 10 months before the district's $59M dollar

facilities bond vote.

Lie #31: Was the School Board's decision to egregiously

overcrowd View School actually a response to losing the

November 2014 $54M Measure Q bond vote and NOT about class

size reduction funding?

3. Pat Escalante is shown holding a t-shirt and standing with HRH Princess Tessy of Luxembourg.  The Beach Reporter News caption states:  “… HRH Princess Tessy of Luxembourg, who presented the award to Escalante.”  According to the photo Pat Escalante’s “award” was a T-shirt.

The information in this website proves these statement as fact.
