The Misleading Information:

North School, renamed Hermosa Vista School, set for February completion by Michael Hixon, November 12, 2020, The Beach Reporter:  (TL-202Nov12 TBR NS renamed Hermosa Vista)

“Another delay according to Han, was discovering asbestos-coated pipe underground, which he said is common for buildings that are decades old.  It took days to follow proper protocols, completing hazardous cleanup and getting clearance to resume work.”

NOTE:  HBCSD School Board members were warned of the problem of “Project-related demolition activities would have the potential to expose construction workers and/or the public to ACMs (Asbestos containing materials) not already identified.” (TL-Asbestos report)

NOTE:  The district’s own Environmental Impact Report under Section 7.6.7. Hazards and Hazardous Materials recommended that school board members NOT demolish North School.  (TL-Asbestos report)
